Pres. Duterte to announce December quarantine classifications

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to announce anytime tonight the new month-long quarantine classifications in the country which will also cover the holiday season.

The announcement will be made after his meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“I was told na magkakaroon ng Talk to the People ang President sa November 30. Doon iaanunsyo ni Pangulo ang change in classification kung mayroon (I was told that the President will have a Talk to the People on November 30. He will announce the new quarantine classification, in case there is any),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed earlier last week.

The Metro Manila Council (MMC) has agreed to recommend to President Duterte the retention of the general community quarantine in the National Capital Region (NCR) until the end of the year.

The MMC said it is open to the decision of the Chief Executive on the matter. Meanwhile, the council has already agreed to ease restrictions, including the shortening of curfew hours. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
