President Duterte assures teachers’ pay hike

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has clarified that the salary increase meant for teachers “is coming this year but it’s not double.” The Chief Executive said that the increment could be around 35 percent or more but no specific time line was given. Earlier, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo pointed out that the government will need to raise around PhP150 billion if it would grant a pay hike of PhP10,000 per month for public school teachers.
