President Duterte hosts dinner for World Police and Fire Games medalists

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday, September 27, hosted a dinner in Malacañan for the medalists of the 2017 World Police and Fire Games.

The Chief Executive, during the dinner at the President’s Hall, awarded certificates to the medalists and lauded them for their outstanding performance in the biennial athletic event.

The World Police and Fire Games are an Olympic-style competition joined by athletes representing law enforcement, firefighters, and officers from over 70 countries and competing in more than 60 sports.

In his message, the President reiterated his promise to implement programs that will improve the living and working conditions of the police.

President Duterte then proceeded to Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace to host a dinner for the Our Lady of Victory Training Center, Inc.

The President, in his message, gave assurance that his administration will be marked by good governance.

During the dinner, President Duterte posthumously conferred the Order of the Golden Heart with the rank of Grand Officer to Sister Cecelia Wood.

During the dinner, President Duterte posthumously conferred the Order of the Golden Heart with the rank of Grand Officer to Sister Cecelia Wood.
Sister Wood was the founder of Our Lady of Victory rehabilitation center.
The Order of the Golden Heart is an award conferred by the President on individuals who have rendered distinguished service; or have given noteworthy monetary, material aid, or encouragement for the improvement of social, economic, and moral conditions of the Filipino masses, especially in the rural areas.

President Duterte also provided financial assistance to Our Lady of Victory Training Center.

The President then proceeded to the PSG Mortuary in Malacañang Park to pay his last respects to Major Harim Gonzaga.

The 37-year-old member of the Presidential Security Group Operations Section was found dead with a gunshot wound in his chest area in his quarters in Malacañang Park at around 8:50 a.m. on September 26.###PND
