Press Statement of NTF ELCAC Spokesperson Undersecretary Lorraine Marie T. Badoy

The NTF ELCAC stands solidly behind the Director General of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Alex Paul Monteagudo when he says that COURAGE is a front of the CPP NPA NDF and that it functions as the ears and eyes of this terrorist group and that the main goal of this CPP NPA NDF created organization is to infiltrate the government and weaken it from within by radicalizing and then recruiting its innocent members who have no idea they are being used by this violent extremist group that pretends to fight for their rights but in fact, have no interest at all in bettering their working conditions.

And that like all of our countrymen who were deceptively recruited into the terrorist fold, they will bring great harm upon themselves and their families. Then after years and years of being used by this terrorist group, will have nothing to show for it but the grief and destruction they have brought upon themselves and our country.

We therefore welcome with open arms the call of S.E.N.A.D.O. President and CPP NPA NDF operative Rosel Eugenio for a Senate investigation into this matter.

We view with deep concern the call of our own legislators, Senators of the land- Minority Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon, Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Sen. Leila de Lima and Sen. Francis Pangilinan – for the immediate passage of Senate Bill 2121 or the proposed “Act Defining and Penalizing Red-Tagging”: a bill that will make possible the continuation of the unending 52 year saga of Grief and Suffering of the Filipino people in the hands of the CPP NPA NDF who were able to commit unspeakable crimes against us precisely because of the preponderance of legal covers they employed- like COURAGE.

That some of the most grievous crimes on the most helpless among us – our children, our indigenous peoples- happened because the masks of thick deceit the CPP NPA NDF wore. Masks of “human rights defenders” by the most egregious offenders of it, masks of “youth advocates” while stepping over the THOUSANDS of dead bodies of our children who had been deceptively recruited into the CPP NPA NDF, masks of “defenders of workers’ rights” while weakening the Constitution and Democracy they had sworn to be faithful to.

It is also with great concern that the NTF ELCAC views the use of Senators Drilon, Pangilinan, Hontiveros, and de Lima – of a word that was invented by the CPP NPA NDF – redtagging – long after our Courts have officially spoken.

In the case of Karapatan Philippines, Rural Missionaries of the Philippines, lnc.. GABRIELA, et al, versus H.E. RODRIGO ROA, LORENZANA, PANELO, MADRIGAL, PARLADE, EGCO, MARIE T. BADOY et al. CA GR 00067-WRA July 26, 2019

Petitioners here alleged that they were viciously redtagged as front organizations of the CPP-NPA-NDF which puts their life, liberty, and security at risk.

The COURT OF APPEALS ruled:

“There is no substantial evidence to establish the petitioners’ allegation.

With the foregoing in mind, this Court finds that the allegations in the petition and the documents submitted did not fulfill the evidentiary standard to establish that petitioners’ right to life, liberty, security and privacy were violated or threatened by the respondents. There is no evidence of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, malicious prosecutions and defamations.”

How is it possible that our own legislators ignore what the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court have already made clear: that there is no such thing as “Redtagging” because there is no danger to life, liberty and security when someone is identified as “member of the CPP NPA NDF”?

There is a time for politicking and there is a time for Country. There is a time for Division and a time for Unity.

And when we are up against violent extremists and terrorists who have stolen so much from us, it is but right that we drop politics and close ranks in defense of what is precious to us: our children and our Country.

In closing, the NTF ELCAC would like to underscore its commitment in ending this 52 year communist scourge that has brought untold pain and suffering on our people- more so the most helpless among us: our children, our indigenous peoples and the poorest of the poor.

The Filipino people have suffered long enough.

We are grateful that we finally have a President who will stop at nothing to end the abuse of the Filipino people. And we are one with him in giving this gift to the Filipino people when he steps down in office in 2022: a country in a much better shape than what was handed to us where the CPP NPA NDF will be no more.

And the Peace that has eluded us will finally be ours and our children’s.

That will be our gift to the Filipino people.
