Prince Philip dies at 99

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, passed away Friday at the age of 99, Buckingham Palace announced.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement read.

It added that The Prince “passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

He was born June 10, 1921 and married Queen Elizabeth II on November 20, 1947, five years after she was crowned queen.

He was father to Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. 

Prince Philip was the longest-serving consort of a reigning British monarch.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque relayed that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has extended his deep condolences to Queen Elizabeth II.

“The Philippines and the United Kingdom have strong bilateral ties and we share the grief of the British people in this period of bereavement,” Sec. Roque expressed
