CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City — The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) proved its worth anew after being awarded as Best Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) for 2017 during the 117th Police Service Anniversary (PSA) on Wednesday.
The awarding took place at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Brigadier General Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.
The PSA celebration with the theme “Pagbabago sa Hanay ng Pulisya, Hatid ay Ligtas na Pamayanan Laban sa Korupsyon, Krimen, at Iligal na Droga”, highlighted the awarding ceremony for 28 police officers and units for their outstanding contributions in the government’s fight against corruption, criminality, errant police personnel, and trade of illegal drugs.
No less than President Rodrigo Duterte, assisted by the PNP Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, bestowed the WCPD Unit Award to PRO2 and duly received by Chief Inspector Jovelyn A. Bañares, WCPD chief.
PRO2 WCPD was adjudged as Best WCPD after obtaining the highest overall rating performance for 2017 during the Field Evaluation and Validation, which was conducted by the FEV team led by Senior Superintendent Sofronio O. Bumalay.
PRO2 ranked No. 1 for the crime solution efficiency and crime clearance efficiency on Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and Trafficking in Persons, No. 10 for crime solution efficiency and No. 4 for crime clearance efficiency on Violence against Children and Women, No. 7 for crime solution efficiency and No. 3 for crime cleared efficiency.
Furthermore, PRO2 WCPD launched a total of 449 rescue operations on violence against women and children and trafficking in person that resulted in the arrest of 436 suspects and the rescue of 436 victims of VAWC, while a total of 173 victims of trafficking in person were rescued and 22 suspects were arrested.
Aside from the said accomplishments, PRO2 WCPD is a child-friendly office with complete child-friendly facilities such as children’s play area, clean and presentable toilet and a child-friendly interview room.
PRO2 WCPD also received the second highest rating for the said unit award during the 116th Police Service Anniversary last year. (PR/PNA)
