Prompt cash aid distribution to crisis-hit individuals ordered

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo has instructed DSWD regional offices to implement a prompt cash distribution to all eligible beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program.

In the August 12 Laging Handa briefing, Tulfo confirmed that the additional P2 billion fund from the Department of Budget and Management has been transmitted to regional offices to aid.

Tulfo said he has already ordered that the cash assistance be given on the same day.

“Naglabas ng guidelines, dapat same day ilabas ang hinihingi ‘pag cash assistance. Dapat today ibigay kung pampalibing, bayad sa ospital, today din sinabihan ko ang [ang] regional directors ayaw ko ng bukas,” he said.

Requirements and the payout must also be simplified, in accordance with the instruction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to streamline aid distribution processes.  –Report from Naomi Tiburcio/KC-ag
