CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A provincial executive on Wednesday assured prospective investors that Laguna is poised to be an investment haven and premier tourist destination south of Manila.
Dr. Rosauro Sta. Maria, Laguna Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Trade Office (LTCATO) chief, made the pitch before top business executives, trade officials, bankers and suppliers after the inaugural ceremony of the state-of-the-art food and commodity processing and logistics hub of May Exports Philippines — a subsidiary of the Middle East-based conglomerate and global retail services, Lulu Group International — at the Premiere International Park (CPIP) in Barangay Batino here.
“We welcome and thank you for choosing Laguna as your investment site, particularly in Calamba City,” Sta. Maria said.
He said the province has four congressional districts where the first and second districts are considered industrialized zones while the third and fourth districts are natural tourism destinations.
“We always say that Laguna is a place for business and leisure. Here, you will be able to enjoy doing your business while you are enjoying the hot and cold springs from our mountains,” he said.
As head of the tourism and trade office, Sta. Maria said they are gearing up to promote Laguna to be tackled at the provincial investment board in coordination with Ambassador Dr. Amable R. Aquiluz V, Presidential Special Envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Calamba City Mayor Justin Marc SB Chipeco and work out Laguna’s vast investment and tourism potentials.
“Governor Ramil Hernandez would not stop in doing infra projects. As a matter of fact we are now in the process of building a network of roads at the Laguna Lake area to ease the traffic congestion in the province,” he said.
Sta. Maria also assured investors, visiting envoys, and trade officials of Laguna’s food and farm producers, of the cooperation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Laguna Provincial Director Susan Palo and the DTI Calabarzon Regional Director Marilou Q. Toledo in boosting businesses in the province, especially among the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“On my part, I promise that we will enhance our agribusiness. We are proud to say that Laguna is a nestling ground of organic farming and other ventures such as raising strawberries and other food products and including coffee in Cabuyao City,” he said.
He also pitched for Laguna’s food production ventures aside from the vast tourism sites and as an investment hub. (Saul Pa-a/PNA)
