PRRD accepts Pernia’s resignation, appoints Karl Chua as acting NEDA Sec

Malacañang on Friday confirmed President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the resignation of Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, and disclosed the President has appointed Department of Finance (DOF) USec. Karl Kendrick Chua as Acting NEDA Secretary.

“I have decided to resign from my post as Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning. This is due partly to personal reasons and partly to differences in development philosophy with a few of my fellow Cabinet members,” Pernia explained.

Pernia thanked the President for the appointment and that “it has been an honor and privilege” that he had served the country under the administration for almost four years.
