PRRD approves quarantine classifications nationwide

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has approved the recommended quarantine classifications in the various areas in the country for July.

In his Talk to the People on Monday evening (June 28), he announced that the National Capital Region (NCR) along with Rizal and Bulacan are placed under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with some restrictions while the following areas are placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until July 15:

  • Cagayan
  • Apayao
  • Bataan
  • Lucena City
  • Puerto Princesa
  • Naga City
  • Iloilo City
  • Iloilo Province
  • Negros Oriental
  • Zamboanga del Sur
  • Zamboanga del Norte
  • Cagayan de Oro City
  • Davao City
  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao Occidental
  • Davao de Oro
  • Davao del Sur
  • Davao del Norte
  • Butuan City
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Surigao del Sur

President Duterte placed the provinces of Laguna and Cavite under GCQ with heightened restrictions while NCR, Rizal, and Bulacan under GCQ with some restrictions until July 15. He also announced that the following areas are placed under GCQ from July 1 to July 31:

  • Baguio City
  • Ifugao
  •  Santiago City
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Batangas
  •  Quezon
  • Guimaras
  • Aklan
  • Bacolod City
  • Negros Occidental
  • Antique
  • Capiz
  • Zamboanga Sibugay
  • Zamboanga City
  •  Iligan City
  • General Santos City
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Sarangani
  • Cotabato
  • South Cotabato
  • Agusan del Norte
  •   Surigao del Norte
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Cotabato City

Meanwhile, Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) is declared for the rest of the Philippines.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque emphasized that despite the President’s approval of the community quarantine classifications, they are still subject to the local government units’ (LGUs) appeal.

President Duterte assured that the authorities will continue their strict monitoring against COVID-19 and highlighted that the government only reports the truth regarding the matter.

“Kung gusto ninyo ang totoo, makinig lang kayo dito sa amin. Ngayon, kung gusto ninyo na makinig ng mga bola at, you know, self-aggrandizement, advertisement of their talent and all, you listen to the opposition. Maaaliw kayo sigurado ako. Pero dito ang usapan natin ang totoo lang at bayad kami para magsabi ng totoo,” he said.
