President Rodrigo R. Duterte announced Thursday that China will donate more vaccines against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to the Philippines. In his speech in the inauguration of school buildings in Valenzuela and Bulacan, the Chief Executive revealed that China will provide 400,000 additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine aside from the initial 600,000 it gave making a total donation of 1 million.

Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. disclosed that the next donation will “most likely” be Sinovac vaccines.

Meanwhile, President Duterte confirmed that he wished to be vaccinated using the Sinopharm vaccine. Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is waiting for the complete requirements of Sinopharm to be reviewed for the granting of an emergency use authorization (EUA).
