President Rodrigo R. Duterte has ordered the consultation with Bataan residents on the reopening of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has confirmed that the President talked with Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi and Pangasinan Representative Mark Cojuangco regarding the resumption of operations of the Nuclear Power Plant that was shut down in 1986 due to building safety issues amid the Chernobyl explosion in Russia.

President Duterte has earlier launched a Nuclear Energy Program to study the development of nuclear energy as additional energy source in the country. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
