PRRD decides on quarantine measures for NCR, other areas

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has addressed the public Thursday night to officially declare the quarantine measures in Metro Manila starting June 1.

The Chief Executive placed the National Capital Region under general community quarantine (GCQ).

The regions that would remain under GCQ are Regions 2, 3 IV-A as well as the provinces of Pangasinan, Albay and Davao until the general situation is reviewed.

The rest of the country will be placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Earlier, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque urged that whatever the President’s decision may be, the public still needs to be cautious and cooperative since a cure for Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is not yet discovered.

He also stated that experts have reported a slower doubling rate despite the increase in the COVID-19 cases. He added that the NCR is prepared for the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) based on data but still leaves the decision to the President Duterte.

Sec Harry Roque believes that the Filipino people will continue to abide by the protocols if NCR is placed under GCQ.
