PRRD to grace National Science & Technology Week Mindanao

DAVAO CITY–President Rodrigo R. Duterte is expected to grace the National Science and Technology Week Mindanao slated on July 6-8 at the SMX Convention Center here.

Department of Science and Technology 11 (DOST 11) Senior Science Research Specialist Arnel Rodriguez said the three-day event seeks to showcase the capability of science experts and inspire the youth and other sectors in patronizing local technology.

“We have invited the president to grace the occasion and the Office of the President has confirmed his attendance,” he said.

Rodriguez invited the public to participate, especially students,  entrepreneurs, researchers and even local government unit officials.

The event include forums and lectures relating to science and technology, as well as programs and projects of the DOST in Mindanao, which will be featured in interactive exhibits.

“It also aims to highlight the contribution of science and technology to national development and to the lives of the Filipino people,” he added.

He said DOST will also be presenting the programs to Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) to assist them in their business in terms of technology.

“DOST is supporting MSMEs in the region, enabling them to acquire equipment so that their products will improve,” he added.

Anchored on the theme “Science for the People of Mindanao: Innovation for Collective Prosperity,” the event is organized by the Mindanao Cluster of the Department of Science and Technology, in partnership with the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI). (Armando Fenequito Jr/PNA)
