PRRD orders Duque to form group focusing on distribution of financial aid

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has ordered Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III to form a new group focusing on the immediate distribution of financial aid to health workers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In his public address, Friday, President Duterte mainly discussed the delayed distribution of the government’s cash aid for health workers affected by COVID-19. He reiterated that when he gives out a directive, it must be implemented within a few days not months.

The Chief Executive pointed out how “it is totally unacceptable” that the financial aid has not been given in a span of 2 months. He reminded that he has the power to appoint and the power to dismiss government officials especially those who have lost his confidence.

DOH Sec. Duque explained there were conflicting problems with the beneficiaries of the deceased health workers and admitted he feels shame due to his people’s lack of sense of urgency.

The DOH Chief ensured immediate action on the matter in accordance with the order of the President. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
