President Rodrigo R. Duterte ordered the pursuit of smugglers and hoarders of agricultural products following the spike in prices of meat products in the market.
President Duterte approved the creation of a sub-task group on economic intelligence to immediately identify the unscrupulous traders.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Agriculture (DA) have been tasked to coordinate with law enforcement agencies regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, the DA recommended to review the minimum access volume of agricultural commodities that can be imported with lesser tax to fulfill the lack of supply for 2021.
