PRRD: Stay out of gov’t if you want to be rich

President Rodrigo Duterte has warned government officials and personnel to leave public service if they just want to enrich themselves. He posed the challenge amid his vow to intensify the campaign against corruption in his remaining years as the country’s leader.

The Chief Executive cautioned that he will expose corrupt officials in line with his latest move to publicly name government personnel suspended and dismissed due to neglect, dishonesty, fraud, among others. He also offered reward to individuals who will report anomalies.

“Kapag mayroon kang malaking sindikato, ghost project ni director, I’ll give you P50,000. Ibulong mo lang maski sino (If you know a big syndicate or ghost project of a director, I’ll give you ₱50,000. Just tell me),” he encouraged.

“Kapag malaking mga contract, ibulong mo lang na iluluto ‘yan. I will give you ₱100,000 and I will keep your identity a secret until I reach my grave. (If that’s a big contract, report it discreetly how it is being done. I will give you ₱100,000 and I will keep your identity a secret until I reach my grave),” he added.

The President also warned government workers, including appointees, who are facing charges and suspension that they will be dismissed once found neglectful or “whatever if it falls as a ground for dismissal.”

“Do not ever think that you are indispensable in the scheme of things sa gobyerno. Maraming Pilipino na graduate na mahuhusay, na honest (Do not ever think that you are indispensable in the scheme of things in the government. Many Filipino graduates are brilliant and honest),” he pointed out.

“Maraming walang trabaho. Kaya kayong mga taga-gobyerno na may trabaho, take care of your position. Do not allow even a dent of anomaly na dumaan sa opisina mo (Many are jobless. Those in the government should take care of their position. Do not allow even a dent of anomaly to get into your office),” he advised. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
