PRRD thanks Japan PM Abe, wishes for speedy recovery

In a 25-minute phone call on Monday, President Rodrigo R. Duterte expressed gratitude towards Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and wished for his speedy and full recovery Monday.

According to the Office of the President, the President thanked PM Abe for his “valuable contribution in the strengthening of the Philippines-Japan Strategic Partnership.”

The Chief Executive also wished for the Prime Minister’s speedy and full recovery. PM Abe initially announced his resignation from his post due to health problems. He assured the President Duterte that “Japan will continue to strengthen its Strategic Partnership with the Philippines”.

The Japanese Prime Minister also said that he has warm memories of his visits to the Philippines, including being welcomed to the President’s private residence. Both leaders recognized the value of the Philippine-Japan Strategic Partnership and relations as “friends closer than brothers.” – Report from Mela Lesmoras
