PRRD to grace PDP-Laban rally in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — All is set for Sunday’s political rally of the administration Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) local and national candidates here, which will be attended by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, PDP-Laban’s official mayoralty candidate, said on top of the local candidates, five PDP-Laban official senatorial candidates and seven of Team Duterte’s senatorial slate are expected to attend the party’s Northern Mindanao leg of the campaign at the University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines gymnasium.

“It is inspiring to get this affirmation from the party and no less than the President himself for us to host them in this important political event,” Moreno said.

Moreno said the local PDP-Laban party has been tasked to organize the grand rally, which will start at 4 p.m.

PDP-Laban’s five senatorial candidates are Cagayan de Oro native Senator Koko Pimentel; former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go; Maguindanao Rep.Dong Mangudadatu;  former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa; and former Tagaytay City mayor Francis Tolentino.

Team Duterte–the president’s own handpicked candidates–consists of senators Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito, Sonny Angara, Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano, former interior and local government secretary Rafael Alunan, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, and folk singer Freddie Aguilar.

The local PDP-Laban slate–dubbed “Team OKKA”–is composed of Moreno, Vice Mayor Raineir “Kikang” Uy,reelectionist 1st district Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy and 2nd district congressional candidate Alam Lim, currently president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in the city.

The City Council candidates for the 1st district are Zaldy Ocon, Doc Boboy Roa Daba, retired general Romeo Calizo, George Goking, Inday Dahino, Jay Roa Pascual, newcomer Moreno “Jun” Daba, and Roger Abaday.

The second district candidates are former TV journalist Girlie Balaba, Ian Mark Nacaya, Dr. Malou Serina Gaane, Suzette Magtajas-Daba, Bong Lao, Enrico Salcedo, Agusan barangay captain Ebod Melliza and lawyer Edgar Cabanlas.

PDP-Laban City Council president Marlo Tabac said official candidates of the party from Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte are also expected to be endorsed by the President.
