PRRD to let DILG Sec. Año decide PNP Chief Albayalde’s fate

Before leaving the country for his 5-day official visit to Russia, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said that he will leave the fate of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año. Albayalde’s name came up during the Senate hearing on the “ninja cops” controversy earlier today (October 1). His alleged involvement happened when he served as Pampanga’s regional director during the anomalous 2013 anti-drug operation in Mexico town. 13 cops hid Php50 million worth of shabu in exchange for the release of Chinese drug convict Johnson Lee. PRRD said that he can dismiss, discharge and terminate any official who is unfit to hold their post.
