PRRD updates on DOH move on Avigan, aid distribution in 8th report

President Rodrigo Duterte has submitted his eighth weekly report to Congress on the government’s COVID-19 response primarily the disbursement of the Department of Health (DOH), allocating Php 18 million for Avigan Trials.

“As of May 11, 2020, there are three (3) identified sites for Avigan Trials with a target of 80 to 100 subject patients,” the report read.

The report further disclosed that a total of Php 20.4 billion in cash grant “has been released to 2,654,155 employee beneficiaries of the Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS) program” as of May 14, 2020.

Regarding the release of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), President Duterte reminded those who will have their applications for parole and executive clemency approved to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine before being released.

The Public Attorneys Office (PAO) “was able to secure the release of a total of 4,348 PDLs.”

In preparation for the new normal, the NEDA is finalizing the working discussion paper “We Recover as One.”

Aside from updates, the Chief Executive also expressed appreciation for “the efforts exerted by LGUs and the Bayanihan spirit overwhelmingly demonstrated by NGOs and the private sector.”
