PRRD vouches for Cabinet in latest address

President Rodrigo Duterte asserted anew on Monday night that there is no corruption in the measures undertaken by the government to respond to the prevailing pandemic, especially on the purchase of vaccines.

Pres. Duterte vouched for the credibility of his Cabinet, particularly National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF COVID-19) Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr.
“Just keep your faith in government, tutal si Galvez ‘yon naman ang trabaho niya (besides that’s Galvez’s job),” the president advised.

The Chief Executive assured that Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez is taking care of the economy and expressed confidence anew to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III amid the criticisms and allegations thrown at him.

“At the end of the day, you will see that everything has been done in accordance with the rule of law,” he added.

According to Galvez, five term sheets have already been signed out of seven companies, locking in “the supply of 106 to 108 [million] doses” that also include single dose-vaccines.

‘So all in all Sir, we can by this coming February 2nd week. We’re trying to come up with supply agreements with the vaccine manufacturers, and we will also include the two remaining contracts we are negotiating,” he reported.
Sec. Dominguez likewise guaranteed that the funding of the vaccine has been set to inoculate around 70 million Filipinos in the country or a hundred percent of the adult population.

Meanwhile, the government has acknowledged the impact of the pandemic to the economy and assured that it is already acting on it.

“We are sinking deeper and deeper, pero hindi lang rin tayo, kung hindi tayo lahat (but it’s not just us, it’s all of us). Pero (But) we are trying our very best to keep us afloat,” Pres. Duterte said. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
