PRRD, VP Leni exchange comments on COVID-19 response

President Rodrigo Duterte has countered the constant criticisms hurled by Vice President Leni Robredo on the government’s COVID-19 efforts which then triggered a response from the latter.

“Hindi mo gawin, masama ka. Gawin mo, masama ka pa rin… Anong gusto mo? (Damned, if you don’t. Damned if you do. What do you want?)” President Duterte stressed on Monday night.

“Huwag kayong maniwala diyan sa mga dilawan, lalo na, I hate to mention her name but, itong si Leni, kung ano-anong pinagsasabi (Don’t believe the Yellows, especially Leni who talks too much)…The only thing that we can do really is to wear a mask, wear a face mask, and that’s it and wait for the vaccine. It’s COVID-19 equals vaccine,” the president added.

Robredo immediately issued a response in social media raising suggestions to the Chief Executive regarding COVID-19.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday emphasized that Robredo’s proposals are already being implemented by the government.

“Wala pong bago. Ipinatutupad na po iyan ng gobyerno. Again, buksan po ang mata, buksan ang pandinig nang hindi na ipinauulit ang ipinatutupad na ng gobyerno (There is nothing new. Those are already being implemented. Again, open your eyes and ears to avoid redundancy),” Roque stated.

Meanwhile, Roque said Duterte may soon issue an Executive Order on the price cap of RT-PCR tests as proposed by the Department of Health amid the varying prices charged by hospitals and laboratories. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
