COTABATO CITY – A pursuit operation is underway for a motorcycle-riding tandem who shot and killed a drug store owner in Barangay Rosary Heights 11 here on Monday (Oct. 11) morning.

Capt. Rustom Pastolero, city police station 2 chief, identified the victim as Dessirie Jumalon Rabia, 58, who died while being treated at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center.

An initial police report said one of the two gunmen, posing as a customer, arrived at the DJR Pharmacy located along Teodoro V. Juliano Street and shot the victim with a .45-caliber pistol at around 10:00 a.m.

The gunman quickly fled and boarded a motorbike driven by an accomplice.

“The victim sustained gunshot wounds in her arms and abdomen,” Pastolero said.

He added that relatives and concerned citizens rushed Rabia to the hospital where she expired a few hours later.

“Crime scene investigators recovered four empty shells for a .45-caliber pistol at the scene,” Pastolero said.

He said other police units in the city are helping track down the killers in the interiors of Barangay Rosary Heights 11 and nearby areas.

Pastolero said the motive and identities of the attackers remained unknown as of posting time. (PNA) – bny
