ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan — Persons with disabilities (PWDs) in this city will open their very own healthy food stores at the Lucap Wharf here on December 14.

The store, to be called “Pangasinan Food Store, a one-stop shop”, is a project of the city government of Alaminos, and the departments of labor, trade, and science and technology for the city’s PWDs, city information officer Venus Balgua said in an interview on Friday.

“The project was funded by the Department of Labor with PHP500,000 for the store’s capital, while the stall is the counterpart of the city government,” Balgua said.

The Pangasinan Entrepreneur Development Association, Inc. will supply the products to be sold at the store.

Balgua added that PWDs who are members of the organization in the city will manage the store as their source of income.

“We encourage tourists to buy products from the store. They will be selling healthy variety of foods, like chips or snacks that are organic and other products or things they might be needing before proceeding to the islands,” she said.

Balgua added that the project will be a great help to the PWDs who have a difficult time finding employment.

“Through this, they would be able to sustain their needs and (those of) their families,” she said.
