The Quezon City government completed the distribution of P2.48 billion in financial assistance from the national government on Thursday (Aug. 26), five days earlier than the deadline set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
As of Aug. 28, a total of 2,339,420 low-income individuals or 747,520 families have claimed their P1,000 [per individual] to P4,000 [maximum amount per household] aid from different distribution centers in the city. However, there are still 89,154 households who have yet to claim their financial aid, having failed to appear during their schedule.
Nevertheless, the city has begun the payout of the unclaimed ayuda to beneficiaries who missed their payout schedule.
“Sa tulong ng mga city department, barangay, at law enforcers, nai-distribute natin agad ang ayuda para sa mga indigent nating mamamayan,” Mayor DILG said.
The mayor also said the city is adhering to minimum health and safety protocols by limiting the number of scheduled beneficiaries per day at each site.
According to Social Services Development Department (SSDD) head Fe Macale, days before the ayuda distribution, the city had updated the beneficiary list to remove ineligible and duplicate names.
“Kaya naging mabilis at maayos ang distribution natin ngayon kasi malinis na ‘yung listahan natin. Inayos natin ito para ma-update ‘yung listahan at mabigyan ang mga residenteng nararapat talagang mabigyan ng ayuda,” Macale explained.
Each payout site was manned by validators from the barangay for the checking of documents, verifiers from SSDD, and paymasters from the City Treasurer’s Office. Personnel from the Quezon City Police District, Department of Public Order and Safety, and Task Force Disiplina were also at each site to ensure the orderly distribution of financial aid.
A grievance and appeals committee was also stationed at each payout site as well as barangay halls to address the complaints of constituents regarding financial aid.
Based on the report of SSDD, 2,782 appeals or complaints were received by grievance committees at the city’s designated payout sites. The barangays are still consolidating all the grievances they received for endorsement to the city.
“Kapag may natitira pang pondo pagkatapos nating maibigay ‘yung ayuda para sa mga unclaimed, residents who filed grievances or complaints will now be subject for payout,” Macale added.
