QC fire leaves 5 dead, 3 injured

Five members of a family died in a fire that broke out in Corinthian Gardens Subd., Brgy. Ugong Norte, Quezon City.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the victims as Gilbert Yu,65; Charito Yu, 62; Rita Yu, 57; Ryan Yu; and Abegail Yu.

Three other members of the family were injured.

They were identified as Cheryl Yu, 27, who sustained minor injuries on both arms and knees; Richard Yu, 66, and Stephanie Yu, 24, who both experienced difficulty in breathing. They were brought to Medical City for medical attention.

Only the two-storey house owned by the Yu family were affected by the fire incident.

First alarm was raised at about 1:57 a.m. and reached second alarm at about 2:18 a.m.

BFP reported that the fire originated from the second floor of the house.

The fire incident was declared fire out at about 5:25 a.m.

The estimated cause of damage of the fire is about 60 million pesos.

BFP is still investigating the cause of the incident. – Rod Lagusad
