QC inoculates 5,500 BPO workers

The Quezon City (QC) government has started vaccinating the employees of its many BPO companies.

About 5,500 workers from the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry will receive their first vaccine jabs, further expanding the #QCProtektodo program.

“We signed a memorandum of agreement stipulating our collaborative effort to facilitate and expedite the vaccination process of their employees,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

“We’re happy to have finally gotten the ball rolling, given the fresh vaccine supply we recently received from the national government.”

The QC government signed agreements with the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), and the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) last May.

As agreed, the industry groups will provide their own medical teams to inoculate their employees while the vaccines will come from the local government’s allocation.

The said medical teams will also help inoculate other priority individuals from nearby barangays who registered at the QC Vax Easy website.

Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) Head Margie Santos said the first batch of inoculations was held at the SM City North EDSA Skydome on July 21 and will continue until August 3, covering a total of 5,500 BPO employees and 3,000 registered residents.

“We recognize the invaluable contribution of our workers from the IT-BPM sector to our local economy. They’re among the essential frontliners of our city. There’s no reason to delay this well-deserved service to them,” Santos said.

The city’s target is to inoculate over 67,000 of its industry workers. (QC LGU) – jlo
