QC rolls out centralized contact tracing ‘KyusiPass’ to 80,000 businesses

In a bid to improve its contact tracing capabilities, the Quezon City government has deployed a centralized and ready-for-use COVID check-in system for more than 80,000 registered businesses in the city.

Under KyusiPass, a contact tracing system powered by Safepass, all business establishments in the city are provided with free QR codes that would serve as a unique location monitoring code for its customers or clients to scan.

According to Margie Santos, head of the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD), the centralized government QR service will store all customer’s details under a seamless and confidential system.

“Ang nakakakita lang ng datos ng mga nagcheck-in gamit ang KyusiPass ay ang ating City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU). Kahit kami sa BPLD ay hindi nakikita ang mga datos na ito,” said Santos.

She added that using the KyusiPass uniformly for all establishments is more convenient to citizens and would make data management for the city government much easier.

“This would make contact tracing easier for us in the the event of an outbreak. Without delay we can contact people who had been at identified exposure sites,” said Dr. Rolly Cruz, head of the CESU.

To get their own location monitoring QR code, business establishments are requested to send an email to kyusipass.bpld@quezoncity.gov.ph indicating the Name of the Establishment and their Mayor’s Permit Number.

The said QR code and the template which they can print will be sent via the same e-mail address.
