QCGov has inoculated more than 1 million individuals

The Quezon City Government has administered vaccines to more than 1 million residents and workers who are part of the A1 – A5 priority groups.

As of August 5, the QCProtektodo Vaccination Program has administered 1,612,773 vaccines in Quezon City. Out of this total, 1,015,256 or 59.72% of its target of 1.7million individuals have received their first dose,  including those who have received their single-dose Janssen vaccines. Meanwhile, 597, 517 (37.17%) individuals have received their second dose.

Given that those who have received Janssen vaccines are considered fully protected, the total number of fully vaccinated individuals in Quezon City is now at 689,805.

“We are proud of this achievement but again, this is just a reminder of how far we still have to go in order to achieve population protection. We will continue to vaccinate our residents and workers until everyone is protected,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The QCProtektodo Vaccination Program has been in full swing since the arrival of the first vaccine supply in March. Currently, the program accommodates residents and workers who are part of the A1 – A5 priority groups.

Belmonte seeks understanding from the registered individuals who have not received their schedules yet.

“We had a limited supply of vaccines in the last few months, but with the increased supply committed to us by the national government this ECQ, we will accelerate inoculations once the supply is delivered to the city,” Belmonte said.

The mayor also assures QCitizens that if more people want to be vaccinated even after the target 1.7 million individuals have received their shots, the city will continue to inoculate as it is still expecting to receive 1.1 million doses of AstraZeneca, which were ordered by the LGU.

The QC Government implements a no-walk-in policy to minimize crowding and prevent  transmission of the Delta variant. Likewise, it has been clarified that the city strongly condemns the reported “no vaccine, no work policy”, reportedly being  imposed by some employers.

“We will prioritize the safety of our residents and workers in vaccination sites by following all safety protocols, even as we ramp up inoculations during ECQ”, Belmonte added. (QC LGU) -rir
