Quality time best gift OFWs can give loved ones: Prelate

MANILA — An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Commission on Pastoral Care for Migrant and Itinerant People (CBCP-ECMI) urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are vacationing in the country for the holiday season to spend time with their families and not to spend on material things.

He also acknowledged that their salaries are hard-earned money.

“Here we inform our vacationing OFWs to save, not spend or shop; to be safe especially with those questionable high-interest return of investments, and always stay, sharing stories and meals with their families,” said Bishop Ruperto Santos, chairman of the CBCP-ECMI.

The Bataan prelate noted that spending quality time with their families is the best gift they can give themselves and also their loved ones.

Aside from spending time, he also urged them to hear mass with their families and pray for more blessings, among others.

“Spend time with their families, and go to Holy Masses together, to pray together for sound health, for peace and security in the family,” Santos added.

Thousands of OFWs are now in the country for a holiday vacation with their families. (PNA)
