The Quezon City government announced it has set a record high of 37,234 vaccine doses administered in a single day on June 21, amid its strengthened COVID-19 vaccination program.
According to the city government, this is also the highest number of jabs administered on the said day among all local government units nationwide.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said they have also inoculated around 27,000 vaccine recipients from June 17 to 19, as part of their intensified vaccine rollout in a bid to achieve population protection in six months.
“The achievement of more than 37,000 is proof that we can do so much as long as we have a large supply of vaccines. We are sure that once supply becomes consistent, we can do so much more in a day,” QC Task Force ‘Vax to Normal’ Co-chair Joseph Juico said.
The city has already administered 646,043 vaccine doses as of June 21, of which 495,490 or 29.15% were given as first doses and 150,553 or 8.86% as second doses to the target 1.7 million population.
The vaccination rollout in the city had been expanded to priority group A4 or essential workers since Labor Day, with 1,851 tricycle drivers inoculated via drive-thru vaccination.
A total of 6,327 individuals were also accommodated through the city’s “Bakuna Nights,” or its nighttime vaccination drive for essential workers launched last week. – (QC LGU)/AG- jlo
