Quezon provincial gov’t gives pregnant moms free medical services

SARIAYA, Quezon – Pregnant mothers in this town have been given free health services consultation, laboratory test, ultrasound and dental check under the Quezon provincial government’s “First 1,000 Days of Life” Program (Q1K), which was designed to ensure the health of both the mother and the unborn child – from the baby’s delivery until the child reaches two years old.

Governor David Suarez personally led the medical and health services to the rural communities, where he interacted with the pregnant mother-beneficiaries and ensured they are covered under the Q1K program.

Ang nais natin para sa ating mga anak ay lumaki sila ng maayos, malusog at matalino. Sa pamamagitan ng programang Q1K, mas mabibigyan natin ng mas magandang chance ang pagpapaunlad sa ating mga kababayan (We want our children to grow properly, healthy and intelligent. Through the Q1K program, we can assure the good chance to attain healthy lives for our constituents),” Suarez said.

The Q1K medical services are being conducted across towns and rural communities in a bid to curb malnutrition, especially among pregnant women and expectant mothers and children two years old and below.

Suarez also underscored, during his visit to this town on June 13, that the concept of the province’s Q1K has been receiving recognitions and awards, taking it as a model emulated by other provinces that are implementing their respective health programs.

He also disclosed that he has been invited by the League of Provinces to share the Q1K program to league members as they addressed the problem of malnutrition.

Suarez also vowed to focus on the Q1K program as the provincial government’s health intervention strategy to curb malnutrition beside other nutrition-based supplemental feeding programs and medical services. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
