Rain showers continue to prevail across PH Friday

Most parts of the country will continue to experience rain showers due to the shear line affecting the northeastern portion of Mindanao and the northeast monsoon affecting Luzon, the weather bureau said Friday (Dec. 10).

The shear line will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Eastern, and Central Visayas.

The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, and Quezon.

It will cause isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and the rest of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin.

The rest of Mindanao will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

In an advisory issued at 11 p.m. Thursday, PAGASA said shear lines cause light to moderate, with at times heavy rains over the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao.

Isolated to scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are still likely, especially in areas highly susceptible to these hazards.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the seaboards of northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of central Luzon, the eastern seaboards of southern Luzon and the Visayas, the western seaboards of southern Luzon and the Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – jlo
