Rain showers expected in most parts of PH due to LPA

MANILA Most parts of the country will continue to experience rains due to the low pressure area (LPA) last tracked 100 kilometers east of Davao City, the weather bureau said Tuesday (March 8).

“This LPA still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression, but it will bring rains to a huge part of the country,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the Visayas, Mindanao, Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate, Romblon and Palawan.

“The rains may trigger floods or landslides over these areas,” Aurelio said.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan affecting Northern Luzon will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, and isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the island.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern and central Luzon.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the western seaboard of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
