Region 1 Medical Center gets new building, facilities this year

DAGUPAN CITY — A new five-storey building and modern facilities are being anticipated this 2018  at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City, the biggest public hospital in Pangasinan.

Dr. Roland Mejia, center chief, said on Wednesday that the new building is now on its last stage of construction and is set for inauguration either in March or April this year.

Once completed, the new building will house the hospital’s out-patient department that will open even at night seven days a week to serve  employees and workers in various public and private offices who cannot go to R1MC during the day.

”On top of this, the Center for Mental Health (Psychiatric Department) and a Dermatology Center will also open soon,” Mejia added.

He said construction of the Cancer Center, with dormitories located in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, was also completed and is just awaiting the needed equipment.

Mejia said R1MC would also be boosted by a new multi-slide CT scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines set to be purchased this year.

Likewise, R1MC is set to build an 11-storey hospital building with funds coming from the Department of Health in order to expand its bed capacity from 600 to 1,600. (Ahicam Pasion/PNA)
