Ricci Rivero inks one-year deal with Taiwan team

By Ashley Bercasio

Ricci Rivero becomes the latest Filipino basketball cager to try his luck abroad after reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Taoyuan Pilots of Taiwan’s P. League+.

He will be the first Filipino to play as a world import in Taiwan and is expected to spearhead the Pilots’ transformation following a dismal 7-22 win-loss record last season.

The 6-foot-1 guard recently helped the University of the Fighting Maroons end its 36-year men’s basketball title drought, outlasting the star-studded Ateneo Blue Eagles quintet in the UAAP Season 84 finals.

Rivero averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in his final UAAP season. – ab – bny
