American scribe believes Tim Cone fit to become NBA coach

By Myris Lee

Veteran American sportswriter and book author Roland Lazenby praised Brgy. Ginebra head coach Tim Cone because of his achievements in Philippine basketball.

According to Lazenby, Cone is a brilliant basketball man and an absolute gem in the world of basketball. For him, the winningest coach is absolutely qualified to be a National Basketball Association (NBA) coach.

“I would tell Tim Cone in the American press. I would say someplace should hire him in the NBA team,” he said during an interview on the Sports Bytes PH podcast hosted by Filipino journalist Brian Yalung.

Lazenby added that Cone can be a part of any NBA team and make a difference, because only a few coaches including Cone can do the Triangle offense.

Meanwhile, the Tim Cone-led squad Brgy. Ginebra fell short in their sweep bid against NLEX Road Warriors, 86-85, in the Governors’ Cup Game 3 of the best of 5 semifinals last Sunday.

Despite the loss, the reigning PBA Governors’ Cup champion is ready for vengeance with the NLEX Road Warriors in their Game 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. – ag
