SAP Go visits soldier killed in encounter with NPA

After visiting the wake of slain overseas Filipino worker, Angelo Claveria, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Sunday went to visit the family of PFC. Vicente A. Marcon, in Cabatuan, Iloilo.

PFC. Marcon was one of the soldiers who died in an encounter against the NPAs on May 12, 2018 in Kabankalan City, Negros Oriental.

SAP Go condoled with the bereaved family and handed over the financial assistance from the Office of the President. He likewise thanked the family for the heroism of PFC Marcon and assured the family that the national government will assist them. Go also committed to refer the request of one of PFC Marcon’s siblings to enlist in the AFP.

The encounter in Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, left two Army soldiers dead and eight others injured triggered the evacuation of 236 individuals, as government forces are still pursuing the fleeing New People’s Army rebels.

Go was joined by Iloilo City Mayor Jose S. Espinosa III, Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office and Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Michael Dino. (PR)
