SC suspends work in NCR courts

MANILA — The Supreme Court has suspended work in all courts in the National Capital Region starting noon Monday due to the continuous rain brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon that caused flooding in several parts of Metro Manila and nearby areas.

In an advisory, the SC Public Information Office said Senior Associate Justice and Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio ordered the work suspension in all courts, including the SC, the Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan and the Court of Tax Appeals.

Carpio, meanwhile, said the suspension of work in other severely affected areas is left to the discretion of their executive judges.

“EJs of trial courts in Marikina and other severely affected areas may exercise their discretion to suspend work in their areas due to the continuous rain and flooding,” read the SC advisory posted on their Twitter account.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm “Yagi” (formerly “Karding”), would continue to dump light to heavy rains in most parts of the country in the next few days. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
