SC suspends work in NCR courts Wednesday due to heavy rains

MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered a suspension of work in all courts in the National Capital Judicial Region (NCJR) due to the continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

“In a view of continuous rains and persistent threats of flooding (based on PAGASA rainfall alerts), Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio has ordered suspension of work in all court in NCJR (including the Supreme Court, Sandiganbayan, Court of Appeals and Court of Tax Appeals) for today, Wednesday, July 18, 2018,” SC spokesperson Theodore Te said in an advisory.

Carpio, meanwhile, said the suspension of work in areas outside the NCJR is left to the discretion of their executive judges.

The state weather agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said the southwest monsoon enhanced by a low pressure area and tropical storm Son-Tinh (Henry), would continue to dump light to heavy rains in most parts of the country. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
