Search on for flight instructor, student who survived plane crash

BALER, Aurora — A Cessna 152 type trainer aircraft crash-landed in the mountains between Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija and Maria Aurora, this province on Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Edwin M. Paredes, Philippine Army’s 56th Infantry “Tatag” Battalion chief, said search and rescue operations are still ongoing for flight instructor, Captain Albert Galban, and student trainee Alexis Trinidad, who were both safe but suffered injuries.

“Our government troops were able to talk with the two and advised them to reserve their cellphone that can be used in the rescue operation,” Paredes said in an interview.

Galban sustained bruises while Trinidad suffered a fracture on his feet, he noted.

Paredes also said that two teams from the Tatag Battalion were dispatched past 3 p.m. to search for and rescue the two victims.

According to a report, the instructor and student pilot were on a cross-country flight that departed the Lingayen airstrip in Pangasinan at 10:02 a.m. (Jason De Asis/PNA)
