The news that came at a very auspicious time, Andres Bonifacio’s birthday is of great significance to the PDP Laban.
I respect the decision of Senator Bong Go on his candidacy, but as a party mate, I am proud of his reaffirmation of patriotism and display of honorable resolve, a man of principle, who took inspiration from the national hero, Andres Bonifacio who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
The party was correct in endorsing Senator Bong Go. And we thank President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Bong Go for providing the guidance and the strength to move forward. Whatever reasons Senator Go had in announcing his withdrawal, we respect and honor his resolve and greatly appreciate his intentions behind them: to ensure the country’s welfare. However, “life must go on”, the party needs to move forward regardless of the prevailing circumstances.
PDP Laban remains as the ruling party and has a long bench of capable and extraordinary leaders who will continue with their service to their communities and stakeholders, whether this be in the barangays, municipalities, the districts, their provinces, party-list groups, or in the national level. PDP Laban basic principles will lead the party in determining the rightful candidate to support because after all, it is not a personality we support, but an opportunity given to someone who will hold the country’s future in his hands. As has been the process, we will consult the party members and our constituents as to our next step and will soon come up with a decision.
We thank Senator Bong Go as we continue our support for him in his continuing service to the nation and its people. We are certain that in whatever capacity he finds himself, he will be a great help to the country.
We also thank our Party Chairman President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the father of the party and the nation. We remain steadfast in our support for his programs and the continuity of his vision and work for the Filipino.
PDP Laban is made up of principled individuals. It is a party borne of the hardships of many before us and raised shoulder to shoulder by its members and their commitment to the party values. The party is destined to win.
