Security forces to strengthen campaign against insurgency and terrorism

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will reinforce their campaign against insurgency and terrorism in the country.

“We are here to review, evaluate to strengthen the partnership and improve the plan which we have so that we would beat the deadline set by our president which is to end all these local armed conflict posed by the CPP-NPA and the local terrorist groups before his term ends in 2022” AFP Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay has assured.

The security forces signed a joint directive to aggrandize the policies against security threats. Under the directive, the coordination of the police and military in resolving problems caused by the leftists and the terrorists will be strengthened.

The PNP will form a unit that will focus on pursuing terrorists while an economic program will also be created for barangays declared as insurgency free.

“We will be forging a lot partnerships, we will be doing a lot of initiatives. We will be seeing us together with the AFP more often. We will be very visible together and soon enough we will be able to come up with joint exercises like simulation exercises that we have to do even the legal and offensive stance.” PNP Chief Police General Camilo Cascolan has disclosed. – Report from Bea Bernardo
