Security guard shoots 2 pals at Cavite BIR office

BACOOR CITY, Cavite — A security guard shot and wounded two fellow security guards during a squabble over their duty assignments at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) office in this city minutes shortly before midnight Tuesday.

Superintendent Christopher Olazo, Bacoor City police chief, said the shooting incident happened inside the BIR Cavite office at 335 Malvar Building along Tirona Highway in Barangay Dulong Bayan here at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Olazo identified the victims as Melvin Madueño Eullo, 46, resident of Barangay Mabolo in this city; and Angelico Pequeras Martinez, 28, resident of Soldiers Hills 4 Subdivision in Bacoor City’s Barangay Molino 6.

The suspect was identified as BIR security guard Joseph Cagalawan Cempron, 39, resident of Richmond Subdivision in Barangay Pasong Buaya 2, Imus City.

Investigation showed that the three BIR security guards were having a drinking spree Tuesday evening inside the BIR office premises when a heated argument on their assignments ensued.

During the squabble, suspect Cempron took his firearm, an Armscor caliber 9mm pistol, and shot Eullo on the chest and Martinez in the buttock.

The suspect then turned to another security guard Vicente Pequiras Padillo Jr., 36, who was taking a rest at that time. As Cempron tried to fire at Padillo, the firearm jammed. .

Padillo was then able to call the attention of Police Officers (PO3) Roberto Peregrino Dela Cruz and Jonathan Rufin Baricuatro who were patrolling the area.

They promptly arrested Cempron while the two victims were taken to Crisostomo General Hospital and later transferred to the Binakayan Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators recovered the pistol, with serial no. ‎1434813, believed to be used by the suspect; a magazine loaded with three live ammunition; two fired cartridge cases of caliber 9mm; a live ammo of caliber 9mm and a metallic fragment.

Investigators are set to file double frustrated homicide and attempted murder charges against Cempron. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
