With the wheels of justice continuing to roll for the families of victims during the previous administration’s drug war, developments for one of the top figures behind this heinous campaign are now in full swing.

In an announcement late Sunday, the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has released a subpoena to Senator Ronald dela Rosa, citing his links and knowledge on extrajudicial killings (EJKs).

Said subpoena has been issued to dela Rosa today, calling on the former PNP chief to testify or produce documentary evidence in support of the investigation on EJK cases in Davao during his tenure as the police chief there, and during his time managing the police force under the Duterte administration.

As of press time, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has not yet issued a red notice against him.

Likewise, the International Criminal Court (ICC) released a statement clarifying that the tribunal has not issued any arrest warrants in response to ongoing developments in the Philippines.

Since former President Rodrigo Duterte’s crimes against humanity case at The Hague began picking up momentum, Senator dela Rosa went on a prolonged absence that began on November 11, 2025.

Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the reopened investigation into the bloody war on drugs will cover more than 6,000 deaths tallied during police operations, and probe the alleged involvement of some police officers in vigilante-type killings.

PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. added that the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee report will serve as the foundation for deliberations on the nuances of EJKs that claimed the lives of countless innocent victims. (with reports from Ryan Lesigues and Bernard Ferrer | PTV News)
