Sen. Gordon revives Philippine Marshall Service Bill


Senator Richard Gordon revived the proposal for the creation of a Philippine Marshall Service to give protection to members of the judiciary after the killing of Manila Regional Trial Court Judge Maria Theresa Abadilla by her own clerk of court.

The Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights has initially approved in January the bill providing security detail to the members of the court and investigation on the threats against the judges in the country.

Sen. Gordon also encouraged the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to submit a recommendation on the said bill so they can work again on its passage at the Senate. According to him, the judges play an important role since they ensure that freedom and citizens’ rights are protected. – PTV News
