Senior citizen arrested for selling adobo, dinuguan made from dog meat

A 63-year-old man was arrested for selling dog meat in an eatery in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.

His store was raided and closed down by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday, March 10.

Seized from the eatery were cooked dishes dinuguan (blood stew), kampukan (braised dish), and adobo made from dog meat.

CIDG acted on the reports of non-profit animal welfare organization Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF).

“As per report we received, the arrested dog meat trader slaughters [two] dogs daily,” AKF said.

According to a media report, each packed dish costs P75.

The killing and selling of dogs for food is illegal in the Philippines under the Animal Welfare Act.
