Series of job fairs set in 3 NegOcc cities

BACOLOD CITY — A series of employment fairs will be held in three cities in Negros Occidental, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) local office said.

The first, dubbed MassKara Job Fair, will be held on October 16 at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center led by the city government of Bacolod through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO).

At least 21 licensed recruitment agencies will offer both local and overseas jobs.

This will be followed by another fair on October 20 in Talisay City, at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College Multi-Purpose Gym.

PESO Talisay will accommodate 17 licensed recruitment agencies hiring for jobs abroad.

Bago City will also host a jobs fair on November 2, with the Overseas Filipino Workers Day at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.

Glenda Aligonza, coordinator of POEA Bacolod Satellite Office, said in a press statement that for overseas employment, there is more demand for service crew in the food sector as well as skilled and professional workers in construction and medical fields.

Aligonza said job fairs are coordinated with the POEA which provides recruitment agencies the clearance to recruit once determined they have legal job orders.

She applicants should check the background of agencies to avoid being victimized by illegal recruiters.

Aligonza also earlier urged prospective applicants to undergo Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar to avoid becoming runaway workers. (PNA)
