SILANG, Cavite – In celebration of the “26th National Children’s Month”, this town’s Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) launched an information campaign for women and children, and a feeding program at the covered court of Barangay Iba here Thursday.

SPO2 Annaliza Cabasi-Matro, head of the municipal police’s WCPD, spearheaded the feeding program that drew some 50 indigent children, local police chief, Chief Insp. Resty Soriano, said Saturday.

This year’s Children’s Month celebration carries the theme, “Isulong: Tamang Pag-aaruga para sa lahat ng bata” (Promote proper and responsible parenthood and child care). It was held in cooperation with the local Social Welfare and Development Office and the municipal government.

The WCPD team also distributed notebooks to the children and gave rape prevention tips to women and mothers.
The local police likewise conducted lectures on positive discipline, anti-rape law, and sexual abuse prevention, in various public schools here.

Meanwhile, Cavite’s provincial government also embarked on “Project Lunch”, aimed at reducing the number of undernourished children in Tanza town on Thursday.
